16. Saturday SCSS day (Day 12)

Saturday is LIVE lecture day! 4 hours of it.

Have you ever felt like you're drowning in a sea of knowledge, trying to grasp the intricacies of web development? If you have, that's what I felt today.

Saturday Vibes: Learning Wireframes, HTML, CSS, and More

Every Saturday, it's all about leveling up my web development skills. This week's live lecture was no different. We delved into some fascinating topics, and the main highlights were:

  1. Site map and Wireframes: Creating the skeletal structure of a web page, is a crucial step before diving into the code. We had a quick familiarization with Figma for the wireframing component.

  2. HTML (Header, Footer, Navigation Menu): Learning to structure the content of a webpage.

  3. CSS (Selectors, Responsive Design, Flexbox): Making our web pages beautiful and functional. Responsive design ensures your site adapts to different screen sizes seamlessly, and Flexbox simplifies layout.

  4. SCSS: Taking a step beyond traditional CSS with the power of variables, nesting, and more.

  5. Git (GitHub Repositories, Commits): Mastering version control more and more.

SCSS was an interesting one. I didn't even know such a thing existed let alone its interesting name - Sassy Cascading Style Sheets! SCSS is an extension of CSS, and it's supposed to be better. I am yet to find out why it's really good.

Now, I won't lie; responsive design and flexbox still give me a headache. My weakness at the moment. But I'm not letting these challenges sink my motivation. It's normal to feel a bit disturbed by the complexity, especially when your peers seem to be mastering it effortlessly. But here's the key – self-doubt is a part of the journey for many of us.

Embracing the Learning Curve

What keeps me going is the knowledge that just two weeks ago, I knew absolutely nothing about coding. Two weeks! That's how quickly things are progressing. So far, here's what I've managed to conquer:

  1. VS Code Mastery: I can now use Visual Studio Code to create files, link pages, and write basic code. It's my trusty sidekick in this coding adventure.

  2. GitHub Commits: I've learned the art of tracking changes and collaborating on coding projects.

  3. Basic Markdown Skills: Crafting a readable Readme.md file.

The key here is taking baby steps. Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither are coding skills. Every small victory counts. Remember, a journey of a thousand coding projects begins with a single project :)

Conclusion: The Journey Continues

So, there you have it – a sneak peek into my tough Saturday live lectures. While self-doubt might creep in from time to time, the progress I've made in just two short weeks is a testament to the power of perseverance and continuous learning.

Whether you're a seasoned developer or just starting, never forget that every step forward is a step toward becoming a coding maestro. Embrace the challenges, celebrate the victories, and keep your eyes on the prize. The journey continues, and with every lecture, I'm one step closer to becoming a web development wizard (hopefully!). Stay tuned for more updates from the front of my coding adventure!
